  4. This section describes Retail-Only products sold by PsL. Unlike shareware, you
  5. cannot try these programs before buying them and our rock-bottom mark-ups do
  6. not allow for returns, but we only carry items which have received top marks
  7. by everyone trying them and which we have tested ourselves. Most of these
  8. items have been reviewed extensively in magazines such as PC Magazine and PC
  9. World and recognized as the best of their kind.

  11. Selling retail products represents a departure from PsL's devotion to public
  12. domain and shareware software; however, it is still in keeping with our overall
  13. philosophy of providing information about (and a source of) high quality, low
  14. cost answers to your computing needs. It also is in keeping with the more
  15. aggressively commercial approach that shareware authors have moved towards over
  16. the years. In most areas in which there are both shareware and retail-only
  17. programs, the shareware programs often are better programs at better prices.

  19. PsL offers these products at only a few dollars above our cost, which is why we
  20. have to charge more for credit card orders and why the prices are subject to
  21. change when the prices we pay go up. Products are also subject to availability.

  24. "Cash Price" is for payment by cash, check or money order. Retail product
  25. orders paid by check are held for 10 days for checks to clear.

  67. PCFDial is an excellent program for keeping track of names, phone numbers, and
  68. phone calls. If you have a modem, it will dial the phone for you. Despite this
  69. obvious tie-in to modems, we have never thought before about bundling this
  70. program with the sale of a modem, so here it is:

  81. is a wonderful bargain for those interested in getting into desktop
  82. publishing. We can only assume that for Timeworks, this is a loss leader
  83. which they hope will make people want to upgrade to their full Publish
  84. It! program. Naturally this one does not have as many features as the
  85. full program, but it is certainly competitive with First Publisher and
  86. at just half the price. The only drawback is that laser support is not
  87. available.

  116. magazine reviews have found the same. It also checks spelling and is user
  117. configurable.

  124. If you have a FAX card, you should check out HiJaak PS, which, in addition to
  125. having all the features of HiJaak 2.0, will convert a PostScript file to a
  126. format acceptable by virtually any FAX card made.

  129. PostScript format, anyone can create professional looking FAXes with a variety

  145. It is not too surprising that the top name in laser labels would come out with a
  146. pretty good label printing program, and this is the best we have seen for laser
  147. printers. Features include preset layouts for various sizes of Avery labels (or
  148. other brands), graphics displays and the ability to view the output on screen
  149. before printing. It comes with an integrated database function or labels can be
  150. printed from existing database files or from dBase or WordPerfect and other file
  151. formats.

  153. Two typefaces are included and they can be scaled from 6 point to 96 point. In
  154. addition, clip art and other designs are included. PCX files can be imported as
  155. well. To get you started, several sheets of many different types of labels and
  156. other Avery materials are included. (PsL stocks the popular 4"x1.3" size laser
  157. labels and can get the other sizes quickly.) Printers supported include the
  158. HPLJ, Canon, Xerox 4045, PostScript and compatibles.
